I had to have a stent replaced before I even had a diagnosis. I went to the ER and spent 8 hours there waiting for transport to Madison for stent placement. I had a plastic one and then a titanium one. The problem is that I lived so long after stent placement that when I was cancer free (before the Whipple) I went into liver failure and became jaundiced again because the stent had clogged with scar tissue and was not able to be replaced surgically. Since they took the bile duct during the Whipple the stent went with it.

That itching is the worst!
