I think if you just want a 2nd lab to independently analyze your slides just for the sake of getting a 2nd report, I'd make this request through my doctor. If you insist, I would think he/she would have to do it even if it is a waste of time and money. You could try calling your insurance company and get advice from one of their doctors on how to proceed.
Be forewarned, if you do want to get a consult with a different dr. whose at
a seperate hospital, giving your slides to their own path. lab may be a
prerequisite anyway. That's the big reason I backed off of wanting to just
send my slides to another random lab unassociated with my first hospital's
lab. Hope that makes sense...
