Hi.

Has anyone gotten a blood borne infection/complication from having a port?

With the high frequency of hospital acquired infections.... and doctors/nurses not always using the cleanest technique.... my father is very worried that my mom will pick up an infection from sloppy use of her Port. Of course, the Port is incredibly convenient but I do have to admit that it will certainly increase her risk of infections.

It is very uncomfortable having to remind the nurses that come for home health care and the chemo nurses to wash their hands/wear gloves.
