My husband feels he needs to get stronger before jumping into chemo and radiation. The medical oncologist is not in favor of our decision. However, it seems to me that the odds are strongly against a cure, so all we are really looking at is quality of life (QOL) and the chemo/radiation or even eventual surgery is all about attaining the best QOL while living with this cancer. My fear is that once he starts all that he may not ever feel well enough to enjoy a vacation/honeymoon again. Doctors don't deal with these kind of QOL trade-off issues, so that's why I'm turning to you. Thank you for your help on this. None of us lives forever, so it doesn't seem like a bittersweet vacation to me, just another moment in the sun, if you will. I'm hoping also that it gives him wonderful memories to think about as he deals with the negative effects of his treatments.
