Hi Ellen...It's so good to hear from long term survivors. I'm almost two years past distal surgery and still doing well. I work with a nutritionist (Jeanne Wallace in North Logan, UT) and have actually gained a little too much weight even though I eat an extremely healthy diet and not really too much. We're exploring adrenal or thyroid weakness as a possible cause. I suspect that the effects of surgery and chemo/radiation are much more long term and subtle than our doctors realize. It's so important to be aware of the messages our bodies give us and be willing to tweak the system...more enzymes, a change in diet, etc. I feel I have been fortunate to work with an oncologist who has been flexible and sensitive to my individual needs, as well as a thoroughly competent nutritionist. Please feel free to email me if you'd like more information. My best wishes for your continued good health. love, Dolores
