Has anyone else ever had this situation? On May 3rd my husband (diagnosed June 2008, stage III inoperable PC) came down with fever and shaking chills, was admitted to hospital. From blood culture found he had an e.coli infection. A week after the iv antibiotics were finished, he was back in the hospital again with fever and chills, again it said e. coli. Did the same treatment again. The fourth time in the hospital they decided to test for a parasite and it came back positive for Strongyloides. They said without clearing out the parasite the e.coli will keep coming back. So, now antibiotics for the parasite. While still on the iv antibiotics (which are being done at home) he came down with fever and chills. This time they can't find a reason but feel it might be another infection causing it and are now giving broad spectrum antibiotics along with anti-fungal iv's. They are just trying to get it from all angles. This is all so very frustrating since my husband has been in the hospital now 5 times since the beginning of May. Has anyone else gone through anything like this? Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. - Patty
