We've been to a total of 4 different hospitals in 4 different states (including JHU in Apr. '08) and each one wanted to see the original tissue slides. I obliged each institution. I assumed it was to confirm the original diagnosis and in the process making it so the medical opinion we were receiving would be the best possible. Now you're saying that they really don't give 2nd opinions on slides? I absolutely believe you, but gotta say it doesn't make much sense to me as a layman. A second EUS on your husband would be brutal at this point. Surely someone would give a second opinion consult based on the slides. Have you checked with MD Anderson? They have online self-referral and do consults.
