Jay also had Doplar to rule out blood clots. I think everyone thought that would be the simple answer. I began research in 12/07 and kept telling docs involved that Jay had lymphedema. No one seemed to know much (if anything) about this. Eventually, when the swelling had moved up to his trunk and arms and he could barely get around (this was 4/08) I pleaded with rad onc to find a lymphedema massage specialist. Long story short, he did, Jay went and voila!, finally some relief. The lymph system is so very delicate and when it is disturbed does not work normally. The massage helps it along until it gets over its pout and decides to go back to work on its own. Of course, there is much more to it than that, but this was my explanation to me.....Good luck and God bless. Trip
