On copies of my blood work, it states that the CA19-9 is not to be used to diagnose the presence or absence of PC. I have also been told that you cannot put 100% trust in CT/MRI/ or PET scans. I have just found out the hard way. Two weeks ago my CT scans showed no recurrence of PC. I was having problems with my bilirubin which had been high for several months. Everyone thought that the metal stent that was put in back in Sept. 2008 was blocked and my surgical oncologist was to perform the simple procedure of clearing the stent. To make a long story short, the stent was not the problem and either one or two tumors were detected that were blocking the flow of bile into my intestines. My only option now is radiation in hopes that the tumor can be shrunk enough to be surgically removed and allow the flow of bile into my intestines as desired. This is not to scare anyone, but to let everyone know what we all know, that PC is like a thief in the night. There is NO 100% accurate test for this disease.
