It has been a very long time since I posted. My dad was dx w/distal PC in Sept of 2004. He had the distal op + splenectomy, and there were no + nodes, clean margins, so no follow up chemo/rad. Five years (and dozens of scans) later, he is still, thank God, cancer-free.
He just got his latest scan results, and they show no signs of recurrence. However, this time, for the first time, his blood markers are up slightly. His doc is repeating the bloodwork, and if they are elevated again, he is going to repeat the scan.
I seem to remember that increases and decreases in markers were fairly unreliable gauges of recurrence. Just wondered if anyone could comment on this.
