It's hard to be dx with this thing. I had the whipple in Feb of 96. and it was close to the vein. If you have to go through chemo first, it is well worth it. I have talked to people that went through chemo first, then had the whipple. Also some that went through chemo and did not have the whipple. The advances that are being made help people get over this. Look at the top of the page and go to FAQ and it will give you a lot of information on this. Don't let anyone ever tell you that there is no hope. For everyone that tells you that I can give you names of people that have survived. Rick Lenert
