When to change chemotherapy was posted 04/30/2009 08:27 pm by Neil

My brother's CA 19-9 dropped steadily during his first and second line chemo regiments, but has now flat lined. His oncologist wants to keep him on the same regiment, i.e., Gemzar and Capecitabine. He's aware that PC becomes resistant to various therapies and is wondering if he should insist on changing up the regiment now or if its standard treatment to wait until the CA19-9 rises before changing therapies. If anyone has any experience with this, we'd greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts. Thank you.
