There are medications that your father's doctor can prescribe to help with the poor appetite. For awhile my mother was on Megace which helped stabilize her weight for a bit, then she was put on a steroidal medicine unfortunately I don't recall what it was. Talk with the doctor and see if he can prescribe something. We did try fish oil with my mother, but in her case it did not work. It has to be taken in high concentrations (study done at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland). Talk with the physician he/she will be able to help.
