Unless you are really living out in the middle of nowhere, it shouldn't be that hard to get a CT scan. It might give you some peace of mind. An ultrasound might well be useful for diagnosing other potential GI/abdominal issues, though.

But, yes, I think not googling can be a good idea, at least until you have some more data. Basically, when you are too upset to critically evaluate what you are reading, research is just an exercise in anxiety induction.
