This center is associated with the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California. I'm sure JWCI does all cancers, but this is a fairly new division created when this surgeon left USC (across town) to head his own department. A great career decision for a fairly young experienced surgeon.

Information and location can be found in the contact and direction's pages. Also at the bottom of the page in tiny print. John Wayne Cancer Institute is located across the street from St. John's Health Center (hospital). This surgeon is one of two who have left USC University Hospital (Hepatobiliary/Pancreas Surgery and Liver Transplant division) to head up positions in their new locations since my Dad had been a patient at USC. The other went to Oklahoma.

The surgeons still at USC are aggressive. Dr. Singh just arrived at USC when my Dad was last a patient in the hospital. I remember when he was on his first rounds with another attending surgeon who has left. Only room for one head of department and that is still the surgeon who had done my Dad's whipple. It has been six years this month since Dad passed away. I still keep in touch with two of the surgeons. Both places are good/aggressive and great for first or second opinions. That is why I only recommend them even if the place is smaller, but the experience and skill is excellent.

I also like the layout of information of this new site as it will help new patients anywhere understand the different types of surgeries and function of organs in the GI system. I think it is a good resource for those who are looking for information and possibly patients who want to consider a second opinion.

As you remember your Dad next month, do something in his memory. Make his special food, or do something he liked to do. I did that. Take care and hugs.........Mary
